These terms are a contract between you and Bisai Technologies ("we", "us") for the use of the Canada Licence Prep mobile application ("the app"). By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
1. What the app is
Canada Licence Prep is an independent study aid for Canadian licence knowledge tests:
- the written tests of the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC), required for a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) and a restricted PAL (RPAL): 50 questions, multiple choice and true/false, 80 % required on each part;
- the Ontario security guard test: 60 multiple-choice questions in 75 minutes, 62 % pass mark;
- BC and Alberta security guard tests and provincial hunter education exams (Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia), released as separate content packs;
- the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) exam (free pack). The official PCOC test is taken online with a Transport Canada-accredited course provider.
The app offers practice questions, timed mock tests in each test's format, bilingual English/French explanations, audio, flashcards, a practical-test coach, a storage and transport scenario trainer, a study plan and a readiness estimate.
Canada Licence Prep is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) or its Canadian Firearms Program, the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General, Transport Canada, any provincial security-licensing authority, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, the Alberta Hunter Education Instructors' Association, the BC Wildlife Federation, or any accredited course provider. The app does not deliver any official course or test, does not issue any licence, card or certificate, and does not book tests.
2. Safety and legal notice
The app teaches the knowledge tested in written exams. It is not a substitute for the mandatory CFSC/CRFSC course and its practical handling evaluation, the mandatory Ontario security guard training and first-aid certification, a hunter education course, or an accredited boating safety course. Always handle, store, transport and display firearms as taught by a certified instructor and as required by the Firearms Act, the Criminal Code and their regulations. Laws and regulations change; the Justice Laws Website and the relevant provincial e-Laws sites are the authoritative texts.
3. Who may use the app
You must be at least 16 years old. You must have the legal capacity to enter into a contract or the permission of a parent or guardian. You may use the app only for your own personal exam preparation.
4. No account
The app has no account, login or password. Your progress is stored on your device, and your only identifier is an anonymous ID generated on the device (see the Privacy Policy). If you lose the device, uninstall the app or reset app data, your progress is gone and we cannot recover it. An active subscription can be re-attached on a new installation with Restore purchases, on the same store account.
5. Free features and Pro subscription
Free forever: the complete PCOC pack, the 20-question diagnostic test and readiness report for every route, 20 practice questions per day, one mock test per week, and the exam countdown.
Pro (subscription): all current and future packs in this app (CFSC, CRFSC, Ontario, BC and Alberta security guard, hunter education), unlimited practice and mock tests, bilingual explanations and audio, the practical-test coach (ACTS and PROVE drills, action-type diagrams, handling-test checklist), the storage and transport scenario trainer, the adaptive daily plan and "explain it differently" AI explanations (up to 20 per day).
5.1 Plans, prices and renewal
Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple's App Store or Google Play:

The price shown in the app before you confirm is the price you pay, in your store's currency, plus applicable sales taxes (GST/HST/QST/PST) as collected by the store. Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it at any time in your App Store subscription settings (iOS) or Google Play subscription settings (Android). Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period already paid.
Promotional or introductory prices, where offered, are shown in the app before purchase, together with the price that applies after the promotional period.
5.2 Price changes
If we change the price of a plan, the store will notify you in advance under its rules and, where required, ask for your consent before the new price applies to a renewal.
5.3 Redeem codes
Codes distributed by us or by partner organisations (course instructors, training schools, employers) grant Pro access for a fixed period without payment. A code can be used once. Codes have no cash value and are not refundable.
5.4 Refunds and the pass guarantee
Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy. It explains Apple's and Google's refund procedures and our pass guarantee: if the app had marked you "exam-ready" for a paid route before your test and you nonetheless fail, we extend your access free of charge or refund your most recent subscription payment, under the conditions stated there.
6. Content
6.1 Sources and accuracy
Questions are original works written from official public sources (the Criminal Code, the Firearms Act and its regulations on the Justice Laws Website, the Ontario Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005 and its regulations, the Ontario security guard study guide, Transport Canada's Safe Boating Guide and the Small Vessel Regulations, provincial hunting regulations). Every question cites its source and the date it was last checked. We update content packs over the air and aim to publish corrections within 48 hours of a confirmed report, but we cannot guarantee that every question is current or error-free at every moment. Using the app does not guarantee that you pass any test.
6.2 Report a problem
Use the Report a problem button on any question to tell us about an error. Do not include personal information in the report.
6.3 AI-generated explanations
The "explain it differently" feature produces text with a generative AI model from the question, its options and its human-written explanation. AI output can contain mistakes. The human-written explanation and the cited source remain the reference.
6.4 Referral links
The app links to accredited PCOC providers, firearms course instructors and security training schools. Some links carry a referral code and we may earn a commission. We do not guarantee any third-party course; your contract for a course is with its provider.
6.5 Licence to you
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app and its content on devices you own or control, for your own exam preparation. You may not copy, extract, scrape, redistribute, sell, or publicly post the question bank, explanations, translations, audio, diagrams or images; reverse-engineer the app or its content packs; circumvent the free-tier limits, the subscription check or the pack signature; or use automated tools to access our server. Open-licence and reproduced legal material included in the app remains under its own terms (see the in-app Sources screen).
7. Your content
Notes you type stay on your device. Problem reports and guarantee claims you send us may be used to correct content and handle your claim. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to use the text of problem reports for that purpose.
8. Availability and changes
The app works offline for all study features. Content updates, AI explanations, purchases and restore require a connection. We may change, add or remove features, content and plans, and may discontinue the app with at least 30 days' notice in the app; an active subscription is then refunded pro rata or not renewed, at our choice, and no further charges are made.
9. Warranties and liability
The app is provided "as is" for exam preparation. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, course or test fees, travel costs, lost income, the outcome of any test or licence application, or any use of firearms, vessels or security duties. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, or the mandatory consumer rights described in section 11.
10. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by cancelling your subscription and uninstalling. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms (in particular sections 6.5 and 7), with a refund of any unused subscription period only if the breach was not intentional.
11. Consumer rights
If you are a consumer, you have mandatory rights under the consumer protection law of your province or territory — including the Quebec Consumer Protection Act and the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2023 — that these terms do not reduce. Where a provincial law gives you a warranty or remedy that these terms purport to exclude or limit, that law prevails. If you live in Quebec, no clause of these terms excludes a legal warranty or limits our liability for our own acts in a way prohibited by the Consumer Protection Act. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, your mandatory local consumer rights also apply. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their procedures, described in our Refund Policy.
12. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Delaware, United States. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory provisions of the law of the province, territory or country where you live, and you may bring proceedings before its courts.
13. Language
These terms are available in English and French. Both versions are equally authoritative. Les présentes conditions sont disponibles en français et en anglais ; les deux versions font également foi.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version is published at the URL above with a new version number and effective date; material changes are announced in the app at least 15 days before they take effect. If you do not accept a change, cancel your subscription before the effective date.
